The correct resampler and flags are required for this voicebank. Use the included resampler and template projects to make sure it's properly set up. Check the usage notes for full details.
If you discover any issues or bugs while using this voicebank, please report them here: Contact meThe resampler and template projects can be found in the _RESOURCE folder. Move the resampler folder to a convenient location. To start a new project, use the ustx template for OpenUtau and the ust template for Classic UTAU.
tn_fnds (and derivatives like macres) are looping resamplers that preserve the texture of gritty vocals. Other resamplers will smear the texture by stretching the audio, or produce unrealistic noise, or remove the grittiness entirely.
The W
flag controls pitch shifting. The default value is W0
, which behaves the same as any other resampler by analyzing the pitch of the audio before shifting it to the final note. W-1
disables pitch shifting, while still allowing you to make notes longer. Any other value for W
will manually specify that frequency as the original pitch of the note. W237
means 237Hz, which is the average recorded pitch of ELECTRIC. This will prevent tn_fnds from making pitch errors.
In OpenUtau, change the track renderer to CLASSIC, then open the settings and change the resampler to tn_fnds.
Use Tools > Expressions to add a new expression for the W
flag. Set Type to Options, and set Option Values to W0,W-1,W237
, which ensures that W0
is the default value. (The Options type makes it easier to set exact values, because the numerical values are too far apart and the incorrect number would cause the voicebank to go off-pitch.)
In Classic UTAU, set the resampler in Project > Project Property.
W
flags are applied to individual notes, depending on which subbank is being used.
For Japanese vocals, use the JA CVVC Phonemizer or Presamp, which will automatically use starting/midphrase CVs and VVs.
For English vocals, use the SHO Phonemizer or refer to the SHO E Usage Tutorial.
This voicebank is a combination of these subbanks.
MAGIC, KERNEL, and CRYSTAL each include a desc.mrq file. If you're using another resampler for notes using those subbanks, the desc.mrq can be converted to frq, pmk, etc. using frqeditor.
These subbanks have been mapped like a multipitch voicebank in a few different ways.
You can pick which mapping or which subbank to use in OpenUtau using voice colors. The colors use straightforward names instead of the actual subbank names. Voice colors can be set per phoneme.
You can also use tone shift to pick a different subbank within the same map.
To switch mappings in Classic UTAU, you will need to edit the voicebank files directly. This will affect all projects using the voicebank.
prefix.map
file._RESOURCE/prefix maps
folder, then copy+paste the file into the main folder.prefix.map
.To pick subbanks in Classic UTAU, add a suffix to the note lyric. These use numbers instead of the actual subbank names, with lower numbers for softer vocals and higher numbers for stronger vocals.
Suffix | Tone |
---|---|
+3S | fry scream |
+3G | false cord scream |
+2 | gritty |
+1 | strong |
0 | neutral |
-1F | falsetto |
-1 | soft |
-2 | whisper |
When using some subbanks, you need to apply the correct W
flag to those notes. DAEMON and HEX use W-1
, while ELECTRIC uses W237
.
Notes using ELECTRIC will sometimes sound off-key. You can adjust them using the Draw Pitch tool in OpenUtau or with the t flag in classic UTAU.
Optionally, adjust the g
flag when switching between subbanks to match the tone and make the transition sound more natural.
